Quick Start

By following the 4 Quick Start Steps listed below, you'll be able to get your piano playing started on the right foot. Start the first three steps simultaneously to begin your piano adventure!

Step 1: Print out the Step-by-Step Practice Guide and read it at least once a week. This will keep you on course and motivated. Keep it on your piano's music stand where it will always be in view.

Step 2: Start Week 1 of the 9-Week Chord Exercises. Watch the video and play through each current exercise at least 2 minutes each day. Add a new exercise from the 9-week chord program every week.

Step 3: If you're a complete beginner, start Lesson 1 from "The Basics". Take your time with your first 8 lessons. This is where you will build a strong foundation that will last you the rest of your life.

Step 4: Don't be afraid to try a more advanced song after you've complete your first 3 or 4 lessons. You don't have to learn the entire song or even play both hands together. However, by attempting an advanced melody line, you'll begin to stretch and expand your knowledge of the piano keyboard.
Don't worry so much about correct fingering or even if the melody sounds absolutely perfect...just let yourself experience something that may seem beyond your current abilities. You'll be surprised where you'll be in 6 months by doing this for just a couple of minutes each day.

Step-By-Step Practice Guide

Read this practice guide first and review it often. Your guide will keep you motivated and committed, reviewing techniques and showing you how to learn new songs with your video lessons.

Learning The Basics

Complete beginners, regardless of age, should start with the basics. Learning the basics will take about 6 to 8 weeks, and you'll be building a strong musical foundation that will be with you for the rest of your life. Take your time and enjoy the process! Beginners should also start with week 1 of the 9-week chord exercise. See the link below.
